What is Acorn TCG?

Acorn TCG is an independent reference app for Pokémon TCG enthusiasts, designed and developed by a passionate collector. It helps you manage your card collection, track card values, and identify cards with powerful scanning features.

Features

11

What can I do with Acorn?

Acorn lets you:

  • Scan cards using your device’s camera
  • Track your card collection and its total value
  • View up-to-date card market values
  • Create and manage multiple collections
  • Export and import collections
  • Search quickly across more than 43,000 cards
  • See detailed card information and graded pricing
  • Buy cards on TCGPlayer, Cardmarket, or eBay

Can I set a custom price for a collected card?

Yes. Open Card Detail, select a variant you have collected, and tap the pencil beside its price to enter your own value.

The manual price applies only to that collected variant and is used when Acorn calculates collection values. Choose Reset price and save to return to the current database price.

Does Acorn show grading population reports?

Yes, when population data is available for the selected card variant. Card Detail shows the report below graded prices, including the count and percentage for each grade and the total graded population.

Reports belong to the selected variant and grading company. If a report is not shown, Acorn does not currently have population data for that combination.

How can I find other printings, language equivalents, or artwork cameos?

Card Detail can show Other Printings of the same card, its Japanese or Western equivalent, and other cards where the featured Pokémon or trainer appears in the artwork.

Tap a card in any of these carousels to open its full Card Detail. Relationship sections appear only when that information is available in Acorn’s database.

What is Portfolio, and how can I organize it?

Portfolio automatically brings together every card you have collected in Acorn. It shows your total collected value, unique card count, and total number of copies. Open the pinned Portfolio row at the top of My Collections, or tap Portfolio in Collection stats under Settings.

You can search your holdings, switch between grid and list views, sort by value, quantity, name, release date, or date added, filter by card language, group cards by set, and optionally show each collected variant separately.

When historical data is available, Portfolio also shows how its total value has changed over the last day, week, or 30 days. Tap the trend to move between the available periods.

Can I pin my favorite sets or collections?

Yes. Touch and hold a set row and choose Pin set. Pinned sets appear in their own section at the top of Home, and the Home filters can show only pinned sets.

Pinned sets are stored locally on your device, so the selection does not sync between devices.

To pin a custom collection, open its ••• menu and choose Pin Collection. Pinned collections stay above your other collections while keeping your selected sort order, and the pin is saved with the collection in your account.

Can I search for every card in the database?

Yes. Type an asterisk (*) in the search field to retrieve every card in the database.

There are more than 43,000 cards, so loading the complete result may take a few seconds depending on your device. To see only cards you own, apply the Collected filter.

How often are card prices updated?

Card prices are refreshed every 24 hours so your collection values stay aligned with current market data.

Does Acorn support variants such as Reverse Holo, Poké Ball, and Master Ball?

Yes. Acorn tracks card variants independently, making it easy to follow your Master Set progress.

Are Japanese cards supported?

Yes. You can scan, search, collect, and track Japanese cards alongside cards in Western Pokémon TCG languages.

What if a card’s information is incorrect?

If you notice incorrect card details, report them to hi@acorntcg.com. Acorn’s database is continuously improved, and reports help us refine its accuracy.

Scanner

4

Is the card scanning feature accurate?

Yes. Acorn uses advanced recognition technology to identify your cards. For the best results, use good lighting, keep the card clearly visible inside the camera frame, and avoid showing other text around it.

Some dense Special Illustration Rares can take longer to recognize, especially when artwork overlaps the collector-number area.

The scanner supports official card names across Western Pokémon TCG languages and Japanese cards.

How can I launch the scanner quickly?

Add Acorn’s Open Card Scanner action to the Action Button, Lock Screen, Control Center, or Shortcuts. It opens Acorn directly in the scanner whenever the app is ready to continue.

Can I customize how the scanner behaves?

Yes. Open Settings → Scanner to choose a cooldown from 1 to 10 seconds, turn scanner sounds on or off, control duplicate detection, and decide whether Acorn should warn before leaving with uncollected scans.

Inside the scanner, use the star menu to choose a preferred Master Set variant for the current session. Acorn selects it automatically when the scanned card supports it and safely falls back to the default variant when it does not.

What can I do from Organize Scan Results?

Tap Organize during a scanning session to review every scanned copy. You can search, sort, group cards by set, adjust quantities or variants, select multiple cards, mark them as collected, or add them to collections.

Each scanned copy remains an independent session entry. Removing a card from the scan results only removes it from that session; it never reverses a card that was already saved to your collection.

Free vs Pro

2

What’s included in the free version?

The free version includes:

  • Access to the full card database and basic pricing
  • Storage for up to 50 collected cards for newer accounts
  • One custom collection
  • Basic search and collection tools

What do I get with Acorn Pro?

Acorn Pro includes:

  • Unlimited card scanning
  • Unlimited card storage
  • Unlimited collections
  • Graded card prices
  • TCGPlayer and Cardmarket prices and purchase links
  • Collection and search-result total values
  • Collection export and import
  • Custom app icons

Collections

4

How do I create a collection?

Create collections to organize cards by theme, type, deck, binder, or any system you prefer. Each collection tracks its own cards and value.

Is there a limit to how many cards a collection can hold?

Yes. A collection can hold up to 5,000 cards. If you need more space, contact us and tell us about your setup.

How can I share or back up my collections?

Use Acorn’s Import and Export tools to save a collection as a CSV spreadsheet or import one later.

Exports work well for backups, Excel or Google Sheets, and sharing with friends. Imports look for Collection Name and Card ID columns. If a collection with the same name already exists, Acorn creates a new name such as My Deck (1).

Can I collect an entire set at once?

Yes. Touch and hold a set row to collect the default variant of every card, collect every Master Set variant, or uncollect the complete set.

Acorn asks for confirmation before applying the action because it updates those cards and variants across your collection.

Technical

2

Which devices are supported?

Acorn is available for iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 18.5 or later, and on Macs with Apple silicon.

Does Acorn need an internet connection?

An internet connection is required for current prices, account sync, and fresh database updates. You can still browse sets and collections when their data is already cached on your device.

Troubleshooting

5

I have an active Pro purchase, but the app is showing the paywall again.

Tap Restore Purchases at the bottom of the paywall or in Settings. You may need to restore after reinstalling Acorn, moving to a new device, or using Acorn on another device with the same App Store account.

If Pro is still not restored, contact hi@acorntcg.com and we’ll help.

What should I do if recent expansions disappear?

Acorn checks for fresh card data automatically every 24 hours. To check sooner, open Settings, tap the circular arrow beside the last update date, and choose Check Manually.

If an expansion is still missing or the local data appears broken, choose Redownload Database from the same menu. This downloads the complete cards and expansions database again.

A full redownload can use significant data and may take a little while, so reserve it for troubleshooting.

How can I suggest new features?

Open Settings in Acorn and choose What to build next. You can submit ideas and vote on the features you would most like to see.

How do I contact support?

Email hi@acorntcg.com with any question or support request. Helpful details such as your device model, iOS version, and a screenshot can make troubleshooting faster.

Can I rate the app?

Absolutely. If you’re enjoying Acorn, a rating on the App Store is a great way to support this independent project and help it grow.
